Monthly Brunch with Karl Fisher

For the Glory of God & the Good of the City

God calls all of us to ministry. It looks unique to each of us, and Karl’s call was to coffee and community. But wait, he’s a pastor, right? Yes. And he brews excellent coffee and provides it to the community in Williamsport, PA. In doing so, he also serves his supply line, starting with the growers of the seed, ending with the customer sipping the brew and talking with a friend. Also, in doing so, he communicates the gospel message to the citizens of Williamsport, sometimes using words, sometimes not. He discerned through prayer and study that he might connect more people more effectively to God through this avenue than through the more traveled paths to the life of faith. We hope you can join us for a good discussion of vocation, work and faith.

Alabaster Coffee is a nationally award-winning micro-roaster + coffee bar, a four-Time Golden Bean North America Award Winners: 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) located in Williamsport, PA. Established in 2010, they are a small, family-owned business seeking to make a difference both locally & globally. How can they, a little coffee shop a small town in Pennsylvania, hope to make a difference of this scale? It has to do with the triple bottom line. Besides the normal need to create a monetary profit (that’s the first one), there’s the impact they make on their constellation of suppliers, from the farmers to the landlord to the paper suppliers to their immediate neighbors. And third are their customers and their experiences as neighbors and friends.

People matter to them, and they do their best to respect every person involved in the process of getting coffee from the seed to your cup. This means they know their producers & visit their farms as they’re able, partnering with them and paying premium prices for what they believe are some of the best coffees in the world.
