Strong community can fight the national plague of loneliness - join us for the discussion
Deaths of despair. Rising suicides and overdoses. And now: isolation, unemployment, and uncertainty.
Long before COVID-19 made people retreat to their homes, Tim Carney (American Enterprise Institute fellow, Washington Examiner columnist, and author) has been raising the alarm about the "cancer of loneliness and alienation" that has been undermining our communities and civic institutions. This plague of loneliness has had devastating effects on both a societal and personal scale. Today, when a global calamity should be bringing us together, the cure has forced us further apart in many ways.
Tim has been studying and writing about the dramatic impact growing alienation has had in towns, villages, and individuals across the country. He'll share the findings he made in his most recent book, Alienated America: Why Some Places Thrive While Others Collapse and the implications for how we can live our own lives more fully, particularly as Christians.
There's no better time to reconsider and prioritize the essential role of community. It's important not only in light of current challenges but also as we look forward to the new world where we can be together again. Please join us!
